LEAF INVESTIGATION - Leaf Rubbing
LEAF INVESTIGATION - Leaf RubbingWHAT DO YOU NEED?
A collection of different leaves
1. Place the leaves on a hard surface, such as a table.
2. Cover the leaves with a piece of paper.
3. Using the side of the crayon gently rub over the leaf on the paper. You made need to push harder or softer to get a good image.
4. Compare the different shapes and leaf structures of the various leaves.
WHAT IS THE SECRET?!!!
The crayon rubbing will make it easier to see the leaf structure. The big line running down the centre of each leaf is the main vein which attaches the leaf to the plant and carries water into the leaf. The smaller lines are small veins which move the water around the leaf.
